About Emily (she/they)
Hi there! I’m Emily, a graduate counseling intern and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC). At present, I am studying to be a clinical mental health counselor in the MS in Counseling program at Prescott College, with concentrations in Somatic Counseling and Human Sexuality Counseling. I work from a trauma-informed and experiential perspective, believing that healing occurs through safety, authenticity, and meaningful connection. I approach therapy as a collaborative space where clients are supported in reconnecting with their resilience.
I work with children ages 5 and up, adolescents, and adults. My experience includes supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, mood concerns, psychosis, and identity exploration. I have worked in inpatient, community, and forensic settings and am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ clients and survivors of interpersonal trauma.
My approach integrates existential-humanistic values such as choice, meaning-making, and present-moment awareness with trauma-informed and body-based practices. I may incorporate creative and expressive modalities such as music, movement, and mindfulness when helpful, and I value integrating both top-down and bottom-up approaches to support insight, regulation, and lasting change. Although I have primarily worked with individuals and groups, I am also open to working with couples and families.Â
Outside of therapy, I care for myself by spending time with my wife and our pets, as well as engaging in activities such as painting, songwriting, exploring coffee shops, and playing video games. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on your journey!
