About James (he/him/his)
Hi! I'm James. Over the last decade I’ve seen good results helping people who feel that their life just recently “fell off track” even if they did not expect therapy to be the answer. I’ve tried to nurture this niche of helping those emotionally effected by high pressure stress.
I have helped individuals address low mood, depression, anxiety, and low life-satisfaction. I have also worked with children and families to expand communication skills and patterns, improve relationships, increase feelings of security, and optimize being accurately understood.
I consider myself eclectic potentially utilizing CBT, positive psychology, sports psychology, motivational interviewing, and/or mindfulness techniques to help individuals re-regulate when life has become off-balance. Additionally, I might incorporate aspects from ACT, REBT, Family Systems, DBT, Psychoeducation, Trauma Informed Care, Reality Therapy, or Problem Solving Therapy. But person-centered healing is always a center piece to my work, and I trust my genuineness comes through.
Outside of work, how I personally choose to (thoroughly) destress would be surfing-but if I can’t have that every day another exercise will have to do; preferably outdoors. And I can always count on my dog to eagerly join and make my day at least a little bit better. While there are certainly challenges out there, I hope everyone finds a space and activities to decompress and add joy and fulfillment to life.
