Kaitlyn Slocum
Clinical Intern
About Kaitlyn (she/her/hers)
Hello! My name is Kaitlyn, and I am a clinical graduate intern at Wholehearted Healing Collective. I previously earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arizona State University. I am currently working towards my Master of Social Work degree at Rutgers University. My passion for working in the mental health field has been strengthened by my experience working at a residential group home and a partial care program for adolescents. My time working with these programs and the individuals I have supported has inspired me to continue my education and to further my ability to serve others. My goal is always to create a safe and supportive space where others feel heard, nurture a deeper sense of peace, and grow into the best versions of themselves.
I am open to working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I have previously had the opportunity to support adolescents (age 13-17) and adults who have struggled with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, life transitions, and low self-esteem as an intern. I am committed to building relationships with individuals grounded in acceptance and authenticity, as no one approach meets everyone’s unique needs. Modalities that I have explored include Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. I also enjoy incorporating mind-body and creative expression practices depending on the client's needs and preferences.
For self-care, I enjoy going to the beach, being creative, traveling, seeing live music, and connecting with others. I especially find peace in being outside on a sunny day.
