About Nia (she/her/hers)
Nia Deegan is a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey who brings empathy, cultural awareness, and a collaborative spirit to her clinical work. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College and obtained her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.
As a first-generation American, Nia is passionate about creating inclusive, affirming spaces where clients from all backgrounds can share their stories and feel truly heard. She works with adolescents (ages 9 and up) and young adults, supporting them through challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress, communication skills, boundary setting, and life transitions. Her approach is rooted in mindfulness, self-compassion, and the belief that our environment and relationships deeply influence mental health.
Nia utilizes evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to help clients increase emotional awareness and build lasting coping strategies. She is committed to ongoing learning and views therapy as a collaborative journey of growth and self-discovery.
Outside the therapy room, Nia enjoys running, HIIT, and Pilates, as well as walking, listening to music, and exploring her cultural heritage.
