About Simi (she/her/hers)

Hello, my name is Simi, and I am a licensed social worker. I am a firm believer in the dictum that every person has the potential and inner resources to achieve whichever goal they set for themselves. I also believe that life comes in seasons and while some seasons can have us dancing on the mountain top, other seasons may leave us clinging desperately for hope as we grapple with self-doubt, uncertainties, fear, and anxiety. Desperate seasons make us question everything about ourselves and the world around us.

Martin Luther King Jr once said, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” My goal in therapy is to meet the client where they are, wherever that place may be, and thereafter journey with them to where they hope and dream to be. I strive to instill hope, rebuild self-esteem, restore self-worth, and ultimately repair relationships, whether it is with oneself or with others. For most of us, life doesn’t get easier, or more forgiving, we only need to get stronger and more resilient.

My passion is to inspire change and improve the quality of life of the client through self-awareness and self-exploration. I assist clients in bringing an awareness to their inner strength and resources that they may not have noticed and to work with them toward self-actualization and self-empowerment.

Approaching therapy can be a daunting task for many and often takes courage to allow oneself to become an open book to a stranger. I am ever so aware of this struggle and that is why one of my core values is to create a non-judgmental environment where clients can freely express themselves and be vulnerable without the fear of being judged. In therapy sessions, I strive to create “a safe space” an atmosphere where client feels heard, valued, genuinely cared for, and an integral part of the process.

My therapy approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. My self-care consists of listening to music, spending time with my family and church community, traveling and exercising.
