Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of therapy that examines how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors reinforce one another. CBT is an evidence-based treatment that intends to assist clients in identifying “automatic negative thoughts” about the world, the future, or themselves.
Through psychoeducation and practice, clients learn to reframe their negative thoughts and instead, view them constructively. CBT teaches clients to recognize distorted thinking patterns and provides skills to cope with difficult life situations.
