About Victor (he/him)

Welcome to Wholehearted Healing Collective! My name is Victor Montanaro, and I am a licensed social worker. I work with adults ages 18+ in the areas of substance use and addictive behaviors, anxiety and stress, communication issues, relationship dynamics, life transitions, and other related areas.

I am a firm believer that individuals are the experts of their own lives. I take a non-judgmental, compassionate, curious, collaborative approach to therapy to walk with people through the process of learning to trust their own inner voice, determine their own goals for wellness, and become fully and authentically themselves. I do this by asking questions to invite people to look compassionately within themselves, gently challenge themselves, identify patterns without judgment, and arrive at the answers that already exist within.

All individuals are unique, and so I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Rather, I borrow concepts from multiple theoretical orientations. My practice is informed by modalities and techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal process, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, with hints of dialectical behavioral therapy and internal family systems; though I make an effort to consistently learn and expand my horizons and incorporate new techniques, theories, and orientations.

A well-balanced life is important for all individuals, and this goes for therapists as well! When I’m not working with people here, I’m writing, recording, and performing music as a drummer in multiple bands, listening to my favorite albums from my favorite bands, spending time with friends and loved ones, enjoying a walk outside in nature, reading a book, listening to my favorite podcasts, or enjoying my favorite movies, TV shows, and video games. While these are the things that work for me, everyone is different, and one of my favorite aspects of therapy involves exploring with people what helps them live into their own definitions of balanced lives.
