About Steve (he/him/his)
Hello, I'm Steve Newman M.A., LPC, CHt, NCC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor & a Certified Hypnotherapist - or more simply, a psychotherapist.
I have experience working with men, women, couples and groups; with ages 14 and up.
There are a list of issues that I work with, but they mostly fall under the category of being or feeling "wounded."
My main approach is to find what works best for you - and not ask you to fit into some box that fits some theoretical alphabet formula.
The therapeutic relationship is based on safety & trust, and is non-judgmental, which is the starting point. Most people have an idea in their minds what therapy is supposed to look like - that isn't what you should expect from me. Therapy isn't about crying, venting, & commiserating...well, sometimes it is, but other times it's about laughing, sharing, meditating, contemplating, learning, creating, and growing into and accepting your humanness.
What I like to do for self-care: Listen to music, be around others, create art, read & write poetry & watch/use comedy.
