About Tabeer (she/her/hers)
My name is Tabeer but my loved ones call me Taby. I am a South Asian Licensed Social Worker and a psychotherapist. I believe that at the core of it all, we are looking for genuine connections. I meet my clients where they are at by showing up for them and by holding space for their vulnerabilities. I try to listen to what my client is saying in their gestures, their quirks, and their silence. They hold the ultimate power to move forward, while I equip and help empower them with the necessary tools they need. I come into the sessions with the belief that my client and I, we both will learn something new from each other.
I am an immigrant who believes in decolonizing therapy work for marginalized communities from different backgrounds. The clients are not just the painters of their canvases, they also need environmental reinforcements to bring about their paintings to life. I use an inclusive and an anti-oppressive approach to all my work. Our identities interplay deeply with the dance of the therapeutic alliance that we form.
When it comes to psychotherapy modalities, I am influenced by Psychodynamic Therapy, IFS, Family Therapy, and Acceptance &. Commitment Therapy. I use cognitive behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques for the foundational work. My work is mainly with pre-teens, teenagers, and young adults especially in the areas of advocacy and family therapy.
