About Jess (she/her/hers)

What I love about therapy is the ability to experience profound transformation, and what I love about providing therapy is witnessing those transformations for others. I have worked in the field of mental health and substance abuse for about 15 years, in a number of different types of settings, and with lots of different kinds of people, and what I have learned is that no one is too broken, no one is too far gone, there is always some capacity for healing and hope.

I work with a lot of people who have experienced trauma using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT. ACT incorporates mindfulness practices with taking committed action in the direction of the things you find most important. The goal in ACT is to help you develop the psychological flexibility to live a rich, full, and meaningful life. Notice that doesn't say happy -- a life that is rich, full, and meaningful may not always feel good, happy, nor comfortable. That's the point of developing psychological flexibility.

I am also studying to become a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and I'm really passionate about weight-neutrality & Health-at-Every-Size approaches. You can live your best life in whatever size body you have. You deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, no matter your weight or health status. You are worthy of love, no matter what your body looks like. Even if you're reading those statements and don't feel them to be true right now, I would love to work with you to be able to feel that deep in your soul.

I also have a lot of experience in working with people with addictions, and can work with people in all stages of recovery. Whether you want to pursue 12-Step Recovery, or other recovery options, I can partner with you in navigating the choppy waters of recovering from a drug or alcohol problem. Even if you aren't sure whether it is a problem, I can support you in working through that.

I look forward to witnessing your transformation!
