About Fred (he/him/his)

My name is Fred, and I am a dually licensed professional counselor in Mental Health and Substance Abuse who utilizes a person-centered and mindful approach to collaborate with clients to create an individualized plan tailored to your strengths and resources as well as identifying obstacles to happiness and well-being. I utilize evidence-based therapies and techniques designed to help clients learn more about the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as well as improving interpersonal communication skills, self regulation, mindfulness, and to increase distress tolerance.

I am a certified trauma specialist who engages clients at their own pace to address unresolved issues related to trauma which can lead to mental health and substance abuse issues. I work with people who struggle from adverse child experiences and abuses that often lead to post-traumatic stress. To address various traumatic experiences and I trained in EMDR, narrative therapy and cognitive processing. I also hold certifications as a military family life counselor, certified grief specialist and in gambling addiction.

Engaging in positive activities in life can help maintain a balanced lifestyle for both mental and physical health. Personal health and self-care are important to me, and I promote positive activities and engagement in physical fitness, music and arts, yoga, martial arts, meditation, learning new skills, volunteering, and being open-minded regarding trying something new.

My self-care includes playing piano and guitar, writing songs, exercise, golf, travel, reading,
spending time with family and friends.

I have experience with populations throughout the lifespan from teenagers (age 12 years and up), adults, seniors, couples, families, active military and veterans, and first responders.
