Nourished for Living: Hunger and Food Peace Through an Intuitive Eating Framework
Facilitated by Jess Brock-Pitts, MSW, LCSW, LCADC, ACE, CPT/GF
During this two hour virtual workshop, we'll explore the intuitive eating principles of honoring your hunger, making peace with food, and challenging the food police. Intuitive eating is an approach to eating built on the premise that your body is deserving of nourishment and diet culture is what has failed us. Diet culture teaches people to ignore their bodies' natural hunger and fullness signals, and to disregard our bodies' deep innate wisdom about what we need in favor of harmful and restrictive patterns of eating.
To get the most out of this workshop, it is recommended that you have some knowledge of intuitive eating and have done some work exploring your own history with dieting and diet culture.
You'll learn to identify hunger cues, including early cues that might be missed if you are not attuned to listening for them. You'll explore what trigger foods are for you and leave with a plan for reducing sensitivity to those trigger foods. You'll explore what food police are for you, and we'll discuss strategies for managing those food police, whether internal (in your mind) or external (from people around you).
