Find freedom from intrusive thoughts, fears, and compulsions.

Living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or related anxiety conditions can feel exhausting. You may spend hours each day battling unwanted thoughts, performing rituals, or avoiding situations that trigger fear. Even when you logically know your fears don’t make sense, they can feel impossible to control.

We understand how overwhelming and misunderstood these conditions can be – and we’re here to help you reclaim your life with evidence-based, compassionate care.

Understanding OCD & Related Conditions

OCD is more than a need for order or cleanliness – it’s a neurobiological condition involving intrusive thoughts, obsessions, and repetitive behaviors and/or mental rituals (compulsions) that aim to relieve distress. Common OCD themes include:

  • Fear of contamination or illness (fears about germs, toxins, or spreading illness to oneself or others)
  • Harm obsessions (fear of hurting someone, causing an accident, or losing control of one’s actions)
  • Relationship OCD (doubting one’s love, attraction, or compatibility in a relationship)
  • Religious or moral scrupulosity (obsessing over sin, morality, or whether one has violated religious or ethical rules)
  • Health or medical anxiety (persistent fear of having or developing a serious illness)
  • “Just-right” or symmetry compulsions (needing things to feel perfectly aligned, balanced, even, or complete)
  • Existential or philosophical obsessions (distressing doubts about reality, existence, meaning, or consciousness)
  • Intrusive sexual or violent thoughts (unwanted taboo thoughts about sex, violence, or inappropriate harm)

Many individuals also struggle with related anxiety presentations, including:

  • Health anxiety / medical anxiety (fear of having or developing illness, repeated reassurance seeking or doctor visits)
  • Body-focused repetitive behaviors (like skin-picking, nail-biting, or hair-pulling)
  • Phobias and avoidance of medical, dental, or social situations (like specific phobias related to vomiting, blood, needles, anesthesia, etc)
  • Perfectionism and chronic self-doubt

OCD and related conditions are highly treatable when approached with specialized, structured, and informed care.

Our Treatment Approach for OCD & Related Anxiety Disorders

At Wholehearted Healing Collective, our therapists are highly trained in evidence-based interventions specifically designed for OCD and anxiety-related conditions. We combine structured therapeutic models with warmth, collaboration, and compassion – so treatment feels both effective and human.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. It involves gently confronting fears while practicing not engaging in compulsions. With repetition, the brain learns that anxiety is uncomfortable but not dangerous – and it eventually passes.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT teaches you to identify distorted thinking patterns and replace them with realistic, balanced perspectives. It’s especially useful for reducing worry, reassurance-seeking, and rumination that fuel anxiety.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you build flexibility around intrusive thoughts — learning to notice them without reacting or attaching meaning. You’ll strengthen mindfulness skills and connect more deeply with your values, rather than your fears.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

For clients with intense emotions, DBT provides skills for distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and mindfulness. These skills support the OCD recovery process by improving resilience and reducing impulsive avoidance behaviors.

Therapy Groups for OCD & Anxiety Recovery

Healing from OCD and anxiety often benefits from community support and shared understanding. We offer specialized group therapy options designed to complement individual treatment:

Doing Hard Things: OCD Therapy Group

This group is built around the core principle of ERP – learning to face fears and “do the hard things” in a supportive environment. With guidance from OCD-trained therapists, participants also learn CBT and ACT-based strategies that help them understand the OCD cycle, build willingness to tolerate uncertainty, reduce compulsions, and find confidence in the face of anxiety.

Adult DBT Skills Group

Learn evidence-based DBT skills in a supportive environment to help regulate emotions, reduce impulsivity, and improve relationship patterns shaped by attachment wounds.

DBT Skills for Adults with OCD - coming soon

This group integrates DBT skills with OCD-specific applications, helping participants use mindfulness and distress tolerance strategies during exposure work. It’s ideal for individuals already in ERP or OCD therapy who want additional support with emotional regulation and self-compassion.

Our groups are led by trauma-informed and OCD-informed clinicians who understand the importance of safety, validation, and skill-building in recovery.

Supporting Someone with OCD: Family & Loved Ones Group- coming soon

This group helps loved ones better understand OCD and how to support recovery without reinforcing the cycle of compulsions. With guidance from OCD-trained therapists, participants learn about ERP principles and CBT and ACT-based strategies that help families reduce accommodation, tolerate uncertainty, and respond to OCD with clarity and confidence.

The Importance of Working with an OCD-Informed Therapist

Traditional talk therapy alone can unintentionally make OCD worse — especially if a therapist offers reassurance, over-analyzes obsessions, or encourages avoidance.

At Wholehearted Healing Collective, we ensure that every therapist working with OCD and related anxiety disorders is specially trained in exposure-based and behavioral interventions. Our goal is to empower you with tools that reduce symptoms, restore confidence, and support long-term recovery.

What Healing Looks Like

With the right treatment, people living with OCD and related anxiety conditions can experience profound improvement. You’ll learn how to:

- Reduce compulsions and reassurance-seeking behaviors
- Feel less ruled by intrusive thoughts
- Approach uncertainty with confidence
- Reconnect with your values and daily life
- Experience freedom, joy, and calm again

Healing doesn’t mean never having anxious thoughts — it means no longer being controlled by them.
