My name is Julia, and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC). I congratulate you on taking a courageous first step towards transformation, and I'm hopeful that this is a road we can travel together. As partners on this journey, we will work closely to determine which goals are most important to you and strive to align your life with your personal values.
My therapeutic approach focuses on encouraging self-acceptance and self-compassion while providing you with the coping strategies needed to face and embrace your life experiences. Your unique experiences affect you in many ways, and it is natural to assign meaning to the events in your life. Being aware of the ways you interpret your circumstances is the first step toward making positive changes. And when you are able to make positive changes following challenges, you will be empowered to create the life you truly want to live.
Professionally, I've worked with clients of all ages, ranging from early childhood to adults. My primary areas of focus are grief counseling, depression, anxiety, stress management, healthy communication, and parenting. I have worked extensively with couples parenting adopted and foster children to address the unique challenges they face, as well as with birth parents coping with anticipatory and post-adoption grief.
My therapeutic modalities include various forms of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and TEAM-CBT. I also integrate Impact Therapy, which incorporates REBT, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, and Reality Therapy.
My self-care includes walking in nature and along the beach, reading, and practicing the piano.
If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
